FAQ
How should I prepare for my treatment?
-
Wear loose clothing, and have a quiet place where you can relax.
-
Go to the bathroom.
-
Determine if you want to lie down on a bed or sofa, or be reclined in a cushiony armchair. The more comfortable you are, the better you can relax. Have a blanket on you to keep you cozy, you may get a chill.
-
Ensure that your device is turned off or turned down to avoid unnecessary disruptions.
-
Have water ready to be consumed after the treatment.
What might I experience?
Each individual has their own experience. Some people feel a warmth spreading throughout their body. Others feel a cool breeze coursing through their system or have tingling sensations in different areas; some in the hands, others in the feet. Some even see an array of colours, like The Northern Lights. Overall, most people experience a deep sense of relaxation and tend to fall asleep. Those with aches, pains, or stiffness notice a great reduction in discomfort if it hasn't completely gone away when the session is over. Most feel rejuvenated, light, and in good spirits. Reiki energy will direct itself to where the body needs it.
How can Reiki help with illness?
Reiki energy can help manage some illnesses, such as cancer. Some clients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation have experienced increased levels of energy (one client shoveled a foot of snow off her driveway after radiation treatment). Reiki can help enhance sleep, improve appetite, and generate a positive mindset.
It can also help prepare the body before surgery (to be relaxed, positive, and receptive to the procedure) and can assist in accelerating recovery after surgery. There are no contraindications with Reiki; it can complement a treatment, or therapy that is in place.
